NZ Firefighters Welfare Education Scholarship
Scholarship entries open on 1 October 2024
The scholarship benefit is available for financial members of children aged 5 to 18 years to support a family’s education costs. Entries open annually on 1 October and close at 5pm on 1 December.
Amount
- $500.00 per age group per region. Total of $2000.00 per region.
- Age groups are: 5-8 years of age, 9-12 years of age, 13-16 years of age and 17-18 years of age.
- The amount will be paid to the recipient/s in a lump sum.
Process/Claiming
Applications open annually on 1 October and close on 1 December at 5.00pm. The winning applicants will be advised in December of their success. Money will be deposited into their chosen bank account. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised thereafter.
Criteria
- To apply, the child must be attending an educational facility.
- The money is to be used for education purposes only, this may include the purchase of uniform and stationery.
- Applicants must be aged between 5 and 18 at the time of application.
- The applicant or parent must complete and submit the application form, including the artwork or essay and send this to office@firefighters.org.nz. The application form can be downloaded here from October.
To be considered for the scholarship:
Ages 5-8: to provide some form of artwork showing what they want to be when they leave school.
Ages 9 -12: to provide a 200-word essay of who inspires them and what they wish to do when they leave school.
Ages 13-16: to provide a 400-word essay of who inspires them and what they wish to do when they leave school.
Ages 17-18: to provide a 1000-word essay on why they have chosen their field of study.
